Clients download slow

Hi all,

Well i got the follow problem, my server is located in the USA 100mbit up/down but people can only download @ 9kbs from the server, when i try from FTP it give +500kbs what could be the fault :s

you need sv_downloadurl setup


hit me up on xfire @ tonyscha or aim @ tonyscha83 if you need more help

you use sv_downloadurl "http://yoururl.com/cstrike/"

then put your maps and models and such in the cstrike folder

as for it being slow when downloading from the server, i think that has to do with the server code so it doesnt lag the server <------- if i am wrong feel free to correct me

Well i also tryed that with URL but still the same speed, but i was looking this night,

People from the USA where server is located people download fast around 300kbs and everyone from Europe @ 9kbs :s without that url

Without or with that url? Couldn't it be that the fast downloading is only provided for America? That users outside America download with the regular speed... just a thought lol

without it ur download is capped so players on the server do not suffer performance, no matter how faster ur servers internet it, it will allways download at that speed, unless you add a sv download url which the speed is then based on the servers and clients speed, and also the download processing rate of css.

use bz2ing of files and sv downlaod url ur transfer time will 1/4
